Engineering Water Sovereignty

Cascada is a non-governmental organization dedicated to securing water sovereignty through integrated water resource management, monitoring, and advocacy. We employ a rigorous multidisciplinary and intercultural framework to guarantee sustainable access to water sources.

Our team is a strategic coalition of engineers, field technicians, educators, anthropologists, internationalists, and other specialists. This unique composition allows us to address the water crisis from every angle: technical, social, and legal. Our territorial experience translates into actionable solutions.

Multidisciplinary Approach

Strategic coalition of field technicians, engineers, educators, anthropologists, and international specialists.

Territorial Experience

Our on-the-ground presence translates into actionable solutions for real communities.

Intercultural Framework

We address the water crisis from all angles—technical, social, and legal—with cultural respect.

Strategic Lines

Our work is structured around three fundamental pillars that comprehensively address the water crisis from multiple perspectives.

Access and Management

Water on the move is the growth of autonomy.

We implement infrastructure plans and purification systems for communities experiencing critical levels of water stress. This intervention is designed to foster resource self-governance and community empowerment.

Advocacy

Alliances for a sustainable present and future

We collaborate with research institutions, private sector partners, local governments, and indigenous and rural communities to develop and implement long-term solutions to be encoded into better public policies.

Watch

We ward waters, pure and fierce to weave renewal of peoples and biospheres

We analyze the composition and flow of water sources using a methodology that combines technology, educational programs, and community participation.

The Cascade Effect

A Strategic Framework for Propagating Impact

Our name, Cascada (Waterfall), defines our operational methodology.

It is a strategic framework designed to initiate multiplicative change, mirroring the natural principle by which a single point of intervention generates long-term, far-reaching impact.

In practice, this means that capital investment—whether economic or social—flows strategically to engage all stakeholders, thereby decentralizing our role as an intervening actor and installing local capacity.

Our objective is to overcome models that create dependency by working in a network with communities, the State, the private sector, and civil society.

We build these relationships upon two key pillars:

Interculturality

We establish community relationships based on respect for different knowledge systems. We conduct joint diagnostics with communities so that technical knowledge and ancestral wisdom allow us to identify root problems and develop culturally congruent solutions that are built with and appropriated by the beneficiaries.

Community Empowerment

We measure success not by the duration of our presence, but by the level of co-responsibility generated during the intervention. Every project emphasizes the transfer of technical and inter-institutional capacities for the establishment of self-governance. Our primary objective is to prevent dependency; our ultimate goal is to become unnecessary, leaving behind a system sustained by empowered actors.

Our main objective is to prevent dependency; our ultimate goal is to make ourselves unnecessary, leaving behind a system sustained by empowered actors.
